Telecom Fijiana claimed third place at the Oceania Sevens Championship in Noosa, Australia yesterday.
And Coach Iliesa Tanivula was impressed with the performance following their game against top teams Australia and New Zealand in day one where Fiji lost 5-24 and 7-24 respectively.
“The girls closed the gap and I just reminded them to cut mistakes and be accurate,”Tanivula said.
“Our aim is to be urgent in everything we do.
“The girls gave their best against Australia and New Zealand and we’re thankful that we have come this far,” he said.
The side continued to build momentum in their final two matches thumping Cook Islands 50-0 and Samoa 31-0.
Meanwhile, New Zealand won the tournament after walloping hosts Australia 31-10 in the final.
Now the Fijiana side will turn its focus to the IRB Womens Sevens World  Series in Dubai on December 4-5.
