Ravneel Lal and Alisha Dickinson are the winners of the Vodafone Suva Marathon in Suva yesterday.
Nadi runner Lal, who clocked 3hours 22minutes 5seconds, said his sacrifice and dedication running 8km everyday has finally paid off.
“I live in Votualevu and I attend National Training and Productivity Centre (NPTC) in Namaka,”Lal said.
“And every day I run to school which is 4km and back home, I do this from Monday to Saturday.
“I also do hard training and I sacrifice most of my leisure time for my training.
“I’m happy for the win and I want to thank my parents and family for their support.”
The 19-year-old is also preparing for the Oceania Cross Country Championship in Guam on October 16-17. His coach and uncle Parshotam Lal said Ravneel deserved the win.  “He listens and he follows what I say and he deserves the win,” he said
Ravneel is also eyeing for a spot in the 2015 Pacific Games.
Marathon organiser Chris Daniel said the 47km course was a success with also the inclusion of two wheelchair participants.
“We had 300 runners and the event was beyond our expectations,”Daniel said.
The winners received mobile phones compliments of Vodafone, medals and other prizes yesterday.
