The groundbreaking ceremony for the Momi Bay Resort development is expected to take place in three to four weeks time.
The Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, has confirmed this.
The project is being undertaken by the Fiji National Provident Fund and will be an investment of around $190 million, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum was speaking during the Special Budget Forum at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva organised under his guidance by the Ministry of Finance.
Fiji National Provident Fund chief executive, Aisake Taito, had responded to queries from the Fiji Sun saying the fund is currently in contract negotiations.

Tourism potential
Meanwhile, in preparation for the 2015 National Budget, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum urged stakeholders and businesses to start thinking outside the box and come up with new ideas.
“Tourism is the golden goose for us as about 33 per cent of our GDP comes from tourism,” he said.
“We of course cannot sit around. Because we are competing not just with Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, but we are actually competing with Bali, Puket, Mauritius and all these other destinations. Of course our advantage is the Fijian people.”
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said we need to now start thinking about how we can provide more ancillary services to tourists.
“We don’t want to them to just stay in the resorts but to come out and buy things and do things,” he said.
“There are tourists coming who like to do engage in various activities so how do we cater for them.”
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said medical tourism is another area we should see how to grow.
