Opposition political parties may  have kicked off their public service on the wrong foot.
Both Opposition leader-in-waiting Ro Teimumu Kepa and NFP  Leader Dr Biman Prasad failed to attend yesterday’s Pre-2015 Budget Forum at the Grand Pacific Hotel yesterday.
Dr Prasad, to his credit, had replied to Minister for Finance Aiyaz-Sayed Khaiyum’s invitation. He said he couldn’t attend because of prior engagements in the Western Division. He also sent in a list of proposals from the National Federation Party (NFP) for consideration in the National Budget.
The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) headed by Ro Teimumu is not known to have responded at all to the invitation.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed that only one representative from the Fiji Labour Party was present.
The much praised forum presented a unique dialogue point for all stakeholderswith Government as participants to provided an input on the 2015 Budget and future developments.
It was held at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
“A gentleman from Fiji Labour Party Rohit Kishore is present,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
“We had sent the invitation letters to the Honorable Ro Teimumu Kepa and Honorable Biman Prasad.
“Honorable Prasad had sent in a submission which I understand he also sent to the media.
“But as of now we haven’t received anything from the Honorable Kepa nor was she present here .” Earlier attempts to get comment from Ro Teimumu were not successful.
