Nineteen members of the Yarawa Wesley Circuit in Nabua, Suva, will leave the country today for a 19-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

Pilgrimage co-ordinator Dr Akanisi Kedrayate said this was the second time a group from the church had taken a pilgrimage tour to Jerusalem.

She said this was always the dream and prayer of every Christian.

“Because Jerusalem is considered in the bible as the Holy City of God and it was there where Jesus was accused and crucified and there is belief that he will return one day to rule his kingdom,” Dr Kedrayate said.

“In March this year I stood up in church and said we are taking a trip to the Holy Land. This is a special pilgrimage because after the democratic elections it’s a time for us to go there and give thanksgiving and prayer and just thank God for what we have gone through as a nation and let everybody in Fiji come together in unity.”

She said the group had been praying and fasting for the trip for almost a month. While the pilgrimage would be a milestone for the church the group leaves the country today and would be heading back on October 25.
