Telecom Fijiana 7s Coach Iliesa Tanivula will be working around the clock to replace two players who were injured during the 2014 Oceania Sevens Championship in Noosa, Australia over the weekend.

Tanivula’s biggest challenge is he has to prepare a fit squad for the first leg of the 2014/2015 IRB Sevens World Series in Dubai in December.

Litia Naiqato and Elina Ratauluvu are on the injury list.

“Litia is out for six weeks and she was one of the fittest players in the team and we are disappointed,” said Tanivula.

“Injuries do happen and we need to have back-up players.

“Hopefully, they recover well and join the girls. There are some injuries which are out of control and we’re just going to rope in those that are available and we need to increase our squad.

“We’ve to give others the chance during the Central Coast 7s and the Coral Coast 7s. We will have players and come Dubai we will be able to field a good competitive squad,” he added.

He said the Oceania Sevens taught them a lot of lesson which requires a lot of work.

“It was good to get out there; we made three changes and it was matter of extending the depth of the squad to see what we can do at that level against NZ and Australia; there was a lot of positive and a lot to work needed,” he said. “We just have to work on our fitness big time; we need to get our core skills right and get fitter and stronger but we are in the right path to go to Dubai now.”
