Members of the Fiji Police Force gathered at the Special Response Unit in Nasinu yesterday to commemorate the lives of their fallen comrades in a Remembrance Day service.

Police Commissioner Bernadus Groenewald commended the work carried out by the late officers.

“We have sounded the Last Post for our fallen comrades for they have done the good days work in their lives – commemorating their good life – sacrificing it for the better of all’,” Mr Groenewald said.

The Fiji Police Force had lost 13 officers since September, 2013.

The Remembrance Day was always an opportunity for the Police Commissioner to thank the services given by the fallen officers to the force.

“On behalf of the Police Force and the Government of Fiji, I express my appreciation to you the spouses and loved ones of the brave and dedicated officers for your unwavering support towards these great police officers that we are commemorating today.

“For your loved ones, they have fought the good fight, they have finished the race and they kept the faith and ethos of the Fiji Police Force and I believe that there is in store for them the crown of righteousness”.

Mr Groenewald said the bond shared by Police families was special and often unbreakable.

“Remembrance Day is to recognise the dedication, friendship, comradeship and loyalty of our colleagues.

“This shared value holds us together as Police families in good and bad times and is a reflection of the bond and loyalty to each other,” Mr Groenewald said.

He commended Police officers for helping provide security and safety of Fijians during the election.
