Market Vendors Urged To Display Price Tags

The Labasa Town Council has urged market vendors to attach correct price tags on produce they sell at the Labasa market.

The special administrator of Labasa and Savusavu, Vijay Chand, said this would ensure that the prices of vegetables sold in the market were regulated.

“It would also ensure that customers are not cheated of their money and they are free to shop at any table” Mr Chand said.

“Some vendors sometimes fool customers by changing the prices of vegetables and vendors end by buying vegetables at a very expensive price” he said.

“We want to ensure that customers are not fooled and for them to know the real price of what they purchase” Mr Chand said.

“Most market vendors have shown good initiative in putting up price tags on their items and not only will this help them; it will also help the customers as well” he added. The council will also be monitoring that market vendors display price tags on items they sell in the market.”
