Charlene Thanks Fiji Sun

Miss World Fiji Charlene Sulueti Tafuna’i, who has one month left before the final competition in London, thanked the Fiji Sun for the continued support and media coverage.

Miss Tafuna’i yesterday toured the Fiji Sun head office to personally thank each and everyone for the support she had received so far.

“I am one month away from the competition which officially starts on November 20 and so far I am humbled by the support I have received from everyone,” she said.

“I would like to thank the team at the Fiji Sun for their lovely support and hope for their continued support during the final event in London.

“The experience so far had been great and to be given this opportunity is wonderful.”

During the one month before the finals, Miss Tafuna’i has a lot of work up her sleeves.

“I have to go through with the final touches such as the speech and talent training. Then there is the Beauty With A Purpose project, physical and mental training and also coaching from the national director, Andhy Blake,” she said.

Fundraising for a ventilator

For the Beauty With A Purpose project, Miss Tafuna’i and her Miss World Fiji team is organising a fundraiser this month, on October 25, at Traps Back Bar.

The event is to raise money for a $65,000 ventilator for the paediatrics lab at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital to assist newborn babies with breathing problems.

Miss Tafuna’i is passionate about children since she is the eldest in her family.

“There are lots of newborn babies who have problems breathing and this is caused by various sicknesses such as severe pneumonia and others and through this project I want to help these babies.”

Miss Tafuna’i will leave for London on November 9 with the official function in London starting on November 20 before the crowning on December 14.
