FNPF Invests In In-House Training

The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) yesterday hosted an employer’s workshop at the Takia Hotel’s Conference Room in Labasa.
With the topic, ‘Employers-Superannuation Compliance’ the workshop which had earlier been carried out in the West and Central divisions, concluded in the North.
FNPF’s Assistant General Manager Member Services Alipate Waqairawai said the workshop was basically for employers.
“We call it an employer’s workshop where the new legislation will come into effect on November 1” Mr Waqairawai said.
“Part of this workshop was to consult and dialogue with our key and critical stakeholders who are our employers” he said.
“We had four sessions in Suva, two in the West and one in the North and now we have identified our top 600 employers” Mr Waqairawai said.
“We have a total of 8900 employers and we are targeting the top employers,” he said.
“These employers collect about $32-$33 million on average a month; the top 600 employers contribute about 85 per cent of that” he said.
“So it was only common sense for us to start with them. Also there are certain things because we are transiting into a new legislation” Mr Waqairawai said.
“There are also changes in our processes which will require the cooperation of our employers who are our collecting agents” he said.
He said they have positive responses from employers in the North.
