Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa has confirmed the unofficial appointment of a Shadow Cabinet in Parliament.   She was reluctant to reveal the names to the media when approached at Parliament.

However, some likely members of a shadow cabinet for the Opposition would probably consist of:

n Education – Ro Teimumu Kepa (SODELPA);

nFinance – Dr Biman Prasad (NFP);

niTaukei Affairs – Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu (SODELPA);

nSugar, Local Government– Prem Singh (NFP);

nAttorney-General, Justice and Elections – Tupou Draunidalo (NFP), Semesa Karavaki (SODELPA);

nLand – Mosese Bulitavu (SODELPA), Niko Nawaikula (SODELPA);

nTourism – Viliame Gavoka (SODELPA);

nInfrastructure, Transport – Aseri Radrodro (SODELPA);

nForeign Affairs – Ratu Isoa Tikoca (SODELPA Whip);

nFisheries and Forests – Kiniviliame Kiliraki (SODELPA)

The Opposition would also need a key spokesperson on the Health portfolio, one of the largest beneficiaries of state funds from the national budget.

Defence and Immigration is also another key shadow portfolio needing a spokesperson from the Opposition bench.

The Leader of the Opposition’s office is expected to release a finalised list of the shadow cabinet by next week when Parliament sits again.
