Teacher Got His Just Desert For Spitting On A Student

Both the two  teachers’ unions have come out in support of the sacking of a school teacher for spitting on a student.

Not only was the act revolting, it was shameful and should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

The Minister for Education, Dr Mahendra Reddy, has made the right decision in dismissing the teacher. His decisive action shows the Government has a zero tolerance policy on the abuse of school children. It sends a clear message that any form of abuse of school children will not be tolerated by this Government.

It is consistent with the strong views of the  Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama who is on record  saying that perpetrators will be met with the full force of the law.

It is simply unthinkable that in this modern day and age, a teacher would descend to the gutter.

Students look up to teachers for example and direction. The incident at Ratu Latianara Secondary School on the Coral Coast would have traumatised the victim.

The swift action of Dr Reddy serves as a warning to all teachers.
