Fiji has now had 172 cases in total since our first case was detected on March 19th 2020, with 119 recoveries, and 4 deaths.

The Seru Cakobau captained BLK Nadroga side are optimistic of continuing their undefeated run in the seventh HFC Farebrother Challenge today.

The Stallions are hopeful to come out victorious against VGM Vatukoula at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka at 3pm.

In their last encounter, Nadroga punished Namosi 43-5 last Saturday in front of a jam packed stadium.

BLK Nadroga hooker Seru Cakobau says the side is taking every week as it comes.

“We’re taking things slowly during our matches and we know that Vatukoula will be a tough challenge,” Cakobau said.

He says the side has never underestimated any of their challengers and taking things slowly has helped the side to defend the title for the past six weeks.

The Stallions have successfully defended the prestigious silverware against Naitasiri, Suva, Northland, Naitasiri Northern Bulls, Tailevu and Namosi.

But the side has to polish on their tackles before their next game to avoid any major blow to the side after a number of high tackles were noticed against Namosi.

“There was a lot of high tackles against Namosi and we will work on this before our next match,” he said.

He says the aim against Vatukoula is to maintain ball possession and infiltrate their defence.

Under the presidency of former Nadroga captain Jiko Matawalu, the Stallions have successfully defended the Skipper Cup for four consecutive years.

Matawalu said their union’s priority was to constantly develop players under their development programme.

He said the reason for this priority was mainly because the Union had seen a number of their players securing contracts with overseas rugby clubs.

Earlier this year, the Nadroga Rugby Union renewed their two year partnership with ASM Clermont Rugby as a feeder club for the Top 14 side.

Nadroga plays Nadi in the last challenge next week.
