Smugglers Cove Beach Resort in Wailoaloa, Nadi, for the first time yesterday celebrated Fiji Day with guests and staff.

Resort sales and marketing manager Rotishma Chand said they were looking forward to the day to come together with friends and guests.

“For the first time we celebrated this Fiji day along with the staff and the in-house guest by traditional flag rising done in the morning,” Ms Chand said.

She said one of the guests at the Cove said he was honoured to be celebrating Fiji’s Independence Day.

“Every day is a new opportunity; we can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again. That’s the way life is, with a new game every day,” Ms Chand said.

“It’s a day we all wait for and enjoy along with the new friends from abroad who are in-house. We had guest from all over the world here today who were so excited to be here on this special day and to be part of it as well.

The Cove included Kokoda tasting as one of their activities of the day. It is a traditional island dish where fish is soaked in lemon and blended with coconut cream.

Meanwhile, other big events to look out for at the resort are the Melbourne Cup on November 4, romantic dinner on the beachfront deck, and the Christmas bash and New Year’s Eve celebration.
