Thomas Dunn may be the shortest player on the field yesterday in their match at Buckhurst Park in Suva during the 2014 Courts Inter-District Championships, but he loves playing football.

The 11-year-old is a member of the Navua Primary School football team.

They beat Lautoka Primary 1-0 yesterday and Dunn loves playing as a midfielder.

“Even though I’m short, I do not see that as a challenge,” he said after the match.

“I enjoy my football and I love scoring goals.

“I have been playing with my Navua team  since 2012.”

The Wainimakutu, Namosi player started representing Navua since he was nine years old. This year he once again represented the Navua Under-12 team in the Primary Schools IDC, but lost in the semifinals.

The Year Six student of Vashist Muni Primary School in Navua  would never give up and aims to come back next year.

“Nothing is impossible and I will keep on trying hard to achieve my goal,”he said.

“There will obstacles along the way.

“My goal now is to make the cut in the Navua district team and secure an overseas contract.”
