Police Investigate Fire, Road Accidents

The Fiji Police Force is investigating three accidents occurring over the past 48 hours in the Western Division, said Police spokeswoman, Ana Naisoro.
In the first incident, quick response from the National Fire Authority and the Police prevented a bush fire from reaching a nearby house at Martintar in Nadi.
The incident happened at around 10.30 am last Friday and details are sketchy.
In the second incident at Teidamu in Ba, a truck driver delivering fertilizer to Ba escaped injuries after his truck veered off the road and plunged downhill.
The truck is registered to Lautoka General Transport.
Eye witnesses said the truck was on its way up Teidamu Hill but could not make it.
It is believed that a tree prevented the truck from taking a deeper plunge down the side of the hill.
In the third incident, an accident along the Queens Highway near Sabeto, Nadi, has landed four adults and two children at the Lautoka Hospital.
This was after a vehicle driven by 47-year old man with six passengers collided head on with a loaded sugarcane truck.
At this stage it is still not known why the vehicle veered on to the opposite lane of the road resulting in the accident.
The two children and four adults are still admitted at the Trauma Ward while a woman is admitted at the Intensive Care Unit.
The accident occurred at 11.30pm last Thursday.
