Murder Suspect Questioned

A 35-year-old man, who is a suspect in a murder case, was discharged from the Colonial War Memorial Hospital last Thursday and is in Police custody for questioning.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the suspect, who was found with the victim, was in a serious condition after allegedly trying to injure himself.

“The post mortem result revealed that the death of the 14-year-old Ashna Devi was caused by severe cuts to her neck and we have classified it as a murder,” Ms Naisoro said.

She said Ashna was found dead by Police officers in a vacant house in Viria, Naitasiri, late last month.

She was reported missing from her home on September 25 and the suspect of Wainiika Settlement was also reported missing from home on September 24.

Investigations continue.
