What happened: Rakiraki was confident from the outset as the side lifted the Courts Inter-District Championship Premier Division title with a 2-1 win against Nasinu yesterday.

Edwin Raju and Sumeet Krishan played pivotal role as Rakiraki played an outstanding game to win the final.

Rakiraki dominated the match strongly and scored two beautiful goals. Raju scored inside Nasinu box to give Rakiraki an early lead.

A few minutes left before the end of first half, Nasinu’s Robert Nair scored.

In the second half, Nasinu was the better side and had several chances to score but they missed.

Rakiraki on the other hand played defensive game to hold on until the final whistle.

Star turn: Raju’s goal steered Rakiraki to victory. The hardworking striker played an outstanding game.

Comments: Rakiraki Coach Pragdeesh Goundar said;

“I thank my players for playing such an outstanding game.”

Nasinu Coach Abdul Zaman said;

“We fielded a young side compared to Rakiraki and our players’ played well.

“My aim is to ensure the team qualify for the Super Premier Division.

“I want to continue coaching this young side.”

Rakiraki received $6000 while Nasinu pocketed $1500.
