The Fiji Rugby Union’s Development Unit will conduct a four day capacity building training programme this week targeting Coaching and Match officiating skills.

The Development Unit team will travel to Ovalau to facilitate a Level 1 Coaching and Match officiating training to coincide with a local 7s tournament this Friday and Saturday. The training will start on the 14th and end on Saturday the 18th where participants will implement what they learn during the tournament.

The training objectives are;

a) Provide a continual stream of elite performers to all players and referees.

b) Create more opportunity within the domestic competitions.

c) Develop the mental approach / attitude of underage players and referees.

d) Create opportunity for players and referees to be exposed to elite level

Overall the training is to build the capacity of match officials and coaches by keeping them informed of IRB standards that need to be implemented in the domestic competitions.

The training will commence on the following dates;

– 14th – Depart for Ovalau.

–   15th – Level 1 7s Coach / Match Officiating

–  16th – Level 1 15s Coach / Match Officiating

–   17th – GIR program for Schools (AM / PM)

–  18th – Level 1 Match officiating at the Qereqere 7s Ovalau
