Making provisions in the 2015 Budget to improve the health care for all Fijians is one of the main priorities of Assistant Minister for Health Veena Bhatnagar.
Delivering her maiden speech in Parliament yesterday, she stressed the importance of improving the health system.
“It is an immense challenge to deliver adequate services in Fiji just as it is in most countries and even the advanced democracies,” she said.
But, she said great strides had been made in the past eight years and she intended to continue the reforms in the months and years ahead.
“We need to be able to meet that challenge not only by improving the facilities of the time but staffing the system of doctors and nurses with the right qualifications and the right attitude to patient care,”Mrs Bhatnagar said.
She said the right to health was now contained in our 2013 Constitution and that right must be upheld.
“There is no room in our system for negligence, rudeness and abuse, “she said.
Mrs Bhatnagar also acknowledged the support of her voters, friends, family and especially her mother for the endless support during her campaigns.
