New Zealand ice cream brand, Tip Top, will be manufactured in Fiji by Tappoo Group of Companies.
Located at Marine Drive in Lautoka, the factory is yet another expansion for the Group.
The expansion plan is expected to intensify local price competition with that of  Goodman Fielder Fiji’s Tuckers Ice Cream brand.
In terms of job creation, Group executive director, Kaushal Tappoo said: “Naturally, there will be direct employment in the plant as well as in the sales and distribution chain.”
Initial tests on ice cream produced have been given the green light by the chain. Once all approvals have been met then market production will commence.
“As Tip Top licensees, we have to follow the strict Tip Top formulation, so our ice cream will be of the same superior quality as the NZ made Tip Top ice cream currently imported by us, and so much loved by consumers Fiji wide,” he added
The Tappoo Group’s multi-million dollar expansion and investment in the West has already seen new job creation. Tappoo said now was certainly a good time to invest in Fiji.
“With the new and popular democratically-elected Government in place, investor confidence is growing even higher,” Mr Tappoo said.
“Fiji is poised for significant growth in the coming years. Our company has always taken an optimistic view of the growth potential in this country.”
