The 29-member national soccer squad will march into camp on Saturday.

This was confirmed yesterday by national coaching director Carlos Buzzetti (pictured) indicating the team would be camping at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba.

Speaking to SUNsports, Buzzetti said the squad is a well-balanced one.

“We have a good combination of players, majority of which are young and they are mixed in with the senior players, we are looking forward to the future now and not just next year,” the no-nonsense coach said.

Buzzetti pointed out the main area of focus was on team bonding.

“During the week, we will do drills, side defensive tactics as well. We don’t need to concentrate on their fitness because the players are already fit after playing in the recent tournament but it is on team building we will focus on since it is so important.”

The players are going to fill out all necessary forms before they go into camp.

“The players will need to fill in forms such as medicinal forms which are part of the anti-doping scheme. We need to have a good track record for January next year to keep up with the Olympics.”

The players are to be in camp before 2pm. Buzzetti said they were focusing on the local players for this round and would monitor overseas based-players before pulling them in for the second camp.
