The Consort Shipping Line Limited is still operating despite not having a vessel.

The assurance was given yesterday by Consort Shipping Line Limited manager finance and corporate Adrial Prasad indicating that the transportation arm of the company is in operation delivering cargoes to their usual destinations.

Mr Prasad said they are still providing services to the people of Savusavu, Taveuni, Labasa and Koro Island.

“Although we do not have a vessel at the moment, we are still looking after the logistics side of the company transporting goods to and from the islands,” he said.

The company’s lone vessel, MV Spirit of the Fiji Islands (SOFI) was sold after it ran aground in March 2013 in Koro.

However, Mr Prasad said they are paying other service provider to deliver their cargoes to their existing clients.

“Nothing has changed for us. The business is going on as usual despite not having a vessel and we want to assure the members of the public that we are here to stay,” he said.

“We have been delivering goods for our existing customers and we invite new ones to come on board also. There is nothing to worry about.”

The company has been providing passenger and freight services since 1986 in Fiji linking the islands of Viti Levu with the Northern Division. Its ferry used to provide regular twice-weekly services catering for passengers from Suva via Koro Island to Savusavu, Taveuni and Labasa.
