In a true Fijian spirit some of the unsuccessful candidates (from different political parties) of the recent general elections got together for a drink during Fiji Day. They shared the funny moments of their campaign trials.

Dickie Bird said a Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) candidate recalled how he was worried about the figures used by his campaign manager during one of their rallies.

“Are you sure that’s the right figures?” the worried candidate asked.

‘Don’t worry it’s right because I took it from Mr Chaudhry’s interview on TV last night,” was the reply.

No acquittals

Word is that some companies are now declining to sponsor festivals. Dickie Bird said the main reason of their withdrawal is some festival committees are failing to produce acquittals on funds used.

Just when you thought the notorious anonymous anti-Government blogsite coupfourpointfive had shut down, it’s back. Wonder what put them out of action for awhile?

Carting cane

Cane farmers in Kavanagasau, Nadrala and surrounding areas in Sigatoka believe they could supply more cane if only they could get excess to tramlines. For over a decade the farmers have been transporting their cane to the Lautoka Sugar Mill by trucks after the old Sigatoka Bridge collapsed in a big flood – along with the tramline.
