Defence Anxious To Proceed With Foster Case

Fugitive conman Peter Foster’s case continues to be called in the Suva Magistrates Court.

Foster is wanted in the country for forgery, uttering forged documents and obtaining work permits on forged documents.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Michael Delaney, who was present in court, said he was anxious to proceed with the hearing. However, there was no one present to represent Foster. The case had been adjourned to November 4 for hearing of Foster’s applications.

Foster was sentenced to three years in jail, suspended after 18 months by the Federal Court in Australia for defying a court-order ban on him working in the weight-loss industry. He has an arrest warrant under his name in Australia. His whereabouts are still unknown.

The accused allegedly used words in iTaukei. The case would be called on November 4 to set a trial date. The prosecution will produce five witnesses while the defence will be present three.
