Health Experts Visit Namoli Village

Namoli villagers were all in smiles yesterday when a group of health officials and students paid them a visit.
The Sangam Institute of Technology’s (SIT)-College of Nursing and Health Care Education’s lecturers and students together with the Ministry of Health visited their village outside Labasa for a community outreach programme.
Head of School Damendra Nand was pleased to carry out the school’s sixth outreach programme which included activities like NCDs screening, health talks, outpatient referral and dental check-ups for free.
“The main reason we are doing this is because we want to give back to the community” Mr Nand said.
“The main purpose behind the awareness programme is to educate rural people with information. We are targeting to educate mothers on safe motherhood and family planning in the rural areas.”
Meanwhile, village headman Tevita Dausoko, was pleased with the health outreach.
“We village people mostly stay in the village hence such outreach programmes provide an opportunity for health care services,” Mr Dausoko said.
The institute plans to continue its outreach in other communities.
