Youths of Samabula’s Calvary Temple will be staging a theatre production titled ‘AMEN: A Message to the Nation’ at the Suva Civic Centre starting tonight.

The story and message of AMEN focuses on the life of Wesleyan missionary, Reverend John Hunt and his 19th century journey from England to Fiji.

Calvary Temple Youth president, Alipate Cakaunivere, says the youths want to send a message to the nation and to the people of Fiji through the story of Rev Hunt.

“Let us consider our decisions with wisdom, lest we forget that it was the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was instrumental in the transformation of the cannibal isles and the formation of our nation,” Mr Cakaunivere said.

“The production brings out the challenges faced and sacrifices made by Mr Hunt during his prime years in Fiji.”

He said AMEN was also a challenge to the church to have an attitude of Amen regardless of the challenges faces today.

“The church must continue to be the light and salt and that God-given mandate has never changed,” he said.

“The drama will cast school students and young adults.

“They have put in a lot of work  to write scripts and songs; practicing and rehearsing drama, dance, and music; designing and constructing props.”

The production, starting tonight and each night fro 7pm will end on Saturday.

Tickets at $10 each and can be bought from the front entrance at Downtown Boulevard in Suva.
