Telecom Fijiana coach Iliesa Tanivula believes playing their A-game plan would be crucial in the IRB Women Sevens World Series in Dubai in December 4-5.

Fiji is grouped in Pool C with top teams Canada, England and Brazil.

“It’s quite a tough pool,”he said.

“Canada and England have been in the series  for awhile  but it’s an opportunity for us to get out and show the talent  the Fijian girls have.

“We just play our A game and take each game as it comes.”

With a lot of focus now on the Vodafone Fiji 7s team preparing to defend their title in Dubai, Tanivula has laid out plans for our Fijiana team make their mark on debut.

“We just had to get the preparations right, cover all areas and we shouldn’t have a problem in Dubai,

“I think the only problem is the long flight getting down there. We need to recover and hopefully we get ready for the tournament.

“We could see changes in the team for Dubai from the Oceania team in Noosa as a few girls are injured.”

Leading the injury list is game breaker Dakuinuku, Sawakasa native Litia Naiqato who will be ruled out for three months for a hand injury. Tanivula is welcoming interests from overseas players who wish to don the national jumper.

“The girls who are injured are always part of the squad and hopefully they recover on time,” he said.

The Fijiana squad travels to Australia next Thursday to participate in the Central Coast 7s International Rugby Festival in NSW, Australia.

“This would be a good opportunity to look at some girls who have interest to join the Fijiana side,”he said.

“We’ve the Central Coast next week , Coral Coast next month and come December hopefully we get the right combination for Dubai.”
