Eight-year-old Pepsi of Ba is the favourite to take out the title at the Namosau Horse Racing course in Ba.

Ba Horse Racing Council president Mohammed Harun said the build up to the race has been very exciting with an amazing line up.

“We have an interesting line up because all the competitors are hungry for the title win,” Harun said.

“The main event of the championship will be the 2000metres open race.” Pepsi with jockey Mohammed Riazul of Ba is the current champion of the Voreqe Bainimarama Trophy earlier this year finishing the 2000m race in  a time of two minutes 45 seconds.

Red Eagle, Butterfly, Bullet and Steamer from Sigatoka will provide stiff competition.

“We will also have horses from Nadi such as Dyna Kill, Road Marshall, Fanta and Silver Knight of Ba,” he said.

“This race will witness some of the top horses in the western division battling it out on the track for the inaugural event.”

He thanked the sponsor, Blue Gas for their support.

“The race kicks off from 10am-4pm in the various categories.
