Some members of the victorious Vodafone Fiji 7s side yesterday visited students with special needs in Lautoka.

Team captain Osea Kolinisau, Jerry Tuwai, Semi Kunatani, Sainivalati Ramuai and team manager Ropate Kauvesi were accompanied by staff of Fiji Airways.

They were greeted by students of the Lautoka School for Special Education and the Sunshine Special School to celebrate the Gold Coast 7s win over the weekend.

Kolinisau said it was an honour to visit their fans especially children with special needs.

“We’re pleased with the turnout and happy to have visited our fans,” Kolinisau said.

“Children are our biggest fans because no matter if we win or lose, they are always there cheering for us.”

Kolinisau was amazed with the children in recognising the members of the Fiji team.

Fiji Airways chief executive officer and managing director, Stefan Pichler, said the visit was organised so that special children could meet our rugby heroes and celebrate the victory at the Gold Coast 7s with them.

“At Fiji Airways, we firmly believe that children are Fiji’s most precious resource, and we are happy to assist wherever possible to bring a smile to their beautiful faces,” Pichler said.

“The children in the West fully deserve opportunities like this, and we are glad to facilitate it.

“We of course couldn’t have done this without our partners – the Fiji Rugby Union, and we’re grateful to them for their assistance, as well as  Kolinisau and the boys.”

Pichler believes the more our children interact with their role models and their favourite sports stars, the more confident they will get to pursue their dreams and become the stars of the future.

The team later visited the Sugar City Mall to meet with fans and witness the draws of the Fiji Airways- Fiji Day Promotion winners.
