Coach Simione Raogo said the win was only achieved through the sheer determination of the athletes.

“We’ve been preparing very well for six weeks as we want our athletes to be the fittest,” he said.

Eighty (80) athletes from St Teresa’s participated in the two day event.

“The school and the parents were very supportive towards our athletes,” Raogo said.

He says the anticipation among the athletes for the first ever Ba Primary Schools Athletics meet was exciting to see.

“Athletes knew they would be competing with athletes from 42 schools in Ba and promised to do their best in their various categories.”

Raogo confirmed that preparations for the Chow Games will kick off next week after the names of athletes are finalised to represent Ba.

St Teresa’s won the overall boys/girls categories in the Under-10, U11 and U12 grades.

Ratu Rusiate Memorial won the U9 grade while Ba Sangam Primary won the U13 and Namosau Methodist Mission School won the U14 grade.

Meanwhile, Ba will host the 2014 FMF Western Chow Games which is scheduled for next month.
