The Prime Minister of Tuvalu, Enele Sopoaga has commended the work of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) Secretariat.

Mr Sopoaga visited the Development  forum yesterday after closing the International Conference of Oceans and Rivers at the Fiji National University Nadi Campus on Wednesday.

He stressed the need for working together for the betterment of Pacific Islands, a role the Development Forum is spearheading.

While speaking at the closing of the International Conference of Oceans and Rivers at the Fiji National University Nadi Campus this week, Mr Sopoaga said Tuvalu would work together with any Pacific country for the betterment of those who were vulnerable to climate change.

“This is important because of the benefits of those in the Pacific countries who are most vulnerable to climate change,” he said.

Mr Sopoaga returns home today.

He was honoured to be the first leader from the Pacific to visit the new Secretariat.

“Especially, because a son of Tuvalu, Feleti Teo is currently serving in a leadership role at the PIDF as Secretary-General,” Mr Sopoaga said.

While touring the Secretariat, he thanked the staff for their valuable work for the Pacific.
