Mohan Warns Of Hungry ‘Vultures’

ANZ Pacific & Fiji boss Vishnu Mohan is again cautioning regulators, business that while Fiji was poised for economic prosperity, there were others who could exploit this opportunity negatively.
He reaffirmed and stressed this during the ANZ Diwali Cocktail at his residence on Milne Street off Ratu Sukuna Road on Saturday evening.
Over 300 guests from the business community showed up in their striking Diwali outfits to observe the occasion celebrated by Hindus throughout the world.
“This country will now start attracting the so-called vultures who smell blood. What happens is that when the country is on a trajectory of economic prosperity people smell opportunities,” Mr Mohan said.
“And these are people who didn’t even know where Fiji was on the world map.”
The challenge, he added was for regulators and Government to work together to ensure that monitoring of all sectors of the country to ensure a smooth process of economic prosperity.
Meanwhile Mr Mohan addressed the guests saying Diwali symbolised many good deeds over the bad ones and related this to Fiji’s current position.
“Diwali is the celebration of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and light over darkness. Somebody said to be I was the first person from the private sector to have responded immediately.
“From where I sit and from where ANZ sits we are absolutely positive that Fiji is poised for economic prosperity, that Fiji is going to be a firm dot in the global map.
“Fiji is going to be good for every single Fijian,” he added.
