The national soccer squad is getting serious in winning the gold medal at the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea in July.

The 28-member squad marched into camp at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba yesterday.

National coaching director Carlos Buzzetti said the camp is important for players.

“We are focusing on a lot of areas during this one week training,”he said.

The Uruguayan is working hard to ensure the national side gets the best preparation for the Pacific Games.

“In next training camp, we are also expecting to get the overseas based players so that we can monitor their performance,” Buzzetti said.

The national side’s another important assignment next year is the Oceania Nations Cup in October. Meanwhile, the Fiji Under-20 side also marched into camp last night at Fiji FA’s Academy in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Twenty one (21) players marched into camp in preparation for the Oceania Football Confederation’s President Cup in New Zealand in November featuring the top club sides around the region and Asia in lead up towards the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Former Socceroos coach Frank Farina will join the side tomorrow as their technical advisor.
