Age Doesn’t Matter, Says Feroz

Being part of the Fiji Muslim winning team is an achievement Mohammed Feroz is very proud of.

And he didn’t let his age stop him from accomplishing that goal.

Featuring for the Fiji Over-35 team which won the final beating Australia 4-1 in the 2014 Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America (FANCA) tournament last Sunday, the 40-year-old had a strong message for young people.

“I just want to share this message that age does not matter,” Feroz said.

“If you take good care of your health, eat right and live a drug-free and smoke-free life, you can still play sports and represent your country no matter how old you are.

“This win was great for us and was the culmination of months of preparation and hard work, keeping the right diet and discipline, which I believe is the key to being a national rep. I want to urge young people to take care of themselves.

“Don’t do drugs and avoid alcohol and cigarettes. The benefits are endless and as someone who has personally lived by that, I’m a testament to what you can accomplish if you look after yourself. I hope I can be a good example to youths that you can do anything at any age.”

A physical education teacher and assistant principal at Suva Muslim College, Feroz looked forward to the next FANCA tournament in 2017 where he hoped to feature for the Fiji Over-42 team.
