The touring Arthur Beetson Foundation Queensland Murri rugby league team was beaten 20-16 by the Makoi Bulldogs in an epic battle at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

Bulldogs captain Eliki Ledua said the side was privileged to have played against an overseas based- rugby league club.

“I thank the boys, the Almighty and the touring Queensland Murri for a wonderful game,” Ledua said.
“It was a tough battle for us because we experienced a very fast game and conquering their game plan was not easy. We also experienced some heavy tackles but we were fortunate that none of my players got injured.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by Murri captain Brendan Marshall who said they were hit by some well-timed tackles from the Bulldogs.

“It was a tough game and the Bulldogs played some good footie,” Marshall said.

Marshall stressed that they needed has to polish their structures before their next match against Fiji Residents at ANZ Stadium in Suva on Saturday.
