The attractive Fijian Government policies have attracted a Chinese investor to relocated shop from Trinidad and Tobago to Fiji.

Hang Teng Supermarket is a new addition to the increasing investments into the Fijian economy.

Lily Zhu, the supermarket owner, said the Fijian government’s policies are good for foreign investors to come and invest in Fiji.

The supermarket has been self funded and located on Ratu Mara Road in Samabula with an initial four employees and plans to grow.

“We had two supermarkets at Trinidad and Tobago which was booming but we closed it down and moved back to China,” Ms Zhu said.

“After returning to China, my friends residing in Fiji told me to invest in Fiji because the investment policies are good.

“This is the first shop, which we opened past week Wednesday. Business has been quiet but it’s good especially with this strategic location.”

Ms Zhu said they went all over Fiji looking for a good location to set up their business.

“We have plans to open another supermarket with a bigger parking lot even though we have a parking space here,” she said.

“We might also open a restaurant in Suva – may be close to the bus stand.”
