Village 4 Cinema staff and management in Lautoka got into the spirit of Diwali celebrations by coming to work in their traditional costumes on Thursday.

Cinema manager Salma Bi said she was very happy to see the staff in their traditional costumes.

“I am very happy to see the staff in their colourful attire today, especially the boys in their dhoti costumes,” she said.

She said they tried to keep the tradition going so that people didn’t forget.

“This is what Lord Krishna used to wear and it is important that we keep this tradition,” Ms Bi said.

Despite being marked as a public holiday the staff still had to come to work.

“We still opened today and so that’s why we urged all our staff to come in their Diwali costumes so that the celebration of Diwali can still be felt even in our work place,” she said.

The staff and management had been preparing for this event for one week and have expressed their gratitude to the management.

“This would not have been possible without the assistance from the Head Office in Suva and the staff from the corporation,” Ms Bi said.
