The 35-year-old man accused of killing a 14-year-old girl in Viria, Naitasiri, last month has been further remanded by the High Court in Suva.

Mukesh Lal appeared before High Court judge, Justice Salesi Temo, after the case was earlier transferred from the Nausori Magistrates Court to the High Court in Suva.

Lal is charged with murdering Ashna Devi with whom he allegedly was having an affair.

Justice Temo adjourned the matter to November 21 after Yogesh Prasad, of the prosecution, informed the court that he needed to file information and disclosures.

Lawyer Panapasa Tawake, appeared for the accused on instructions from Legal Aid lawyer, Priya Chand who will be representing the accused from the next case hearing.

Lal and Ashna Devi were reported missing last month and later the girl was found severely bleeding in a vacant house in Viria.

The accused also had some injuries to the neck. Post mortem result revealed that the victim died because of severe cuts on her neck.
