Blake: Charlene Has What It Takes

Miss World Fiji National Director Andhy Blake says Charlene Tafuna’i has a good chance of winning the blue crown.

He said: “Miss Charlene embodies the qualities of a Miss World – beauty of face, she has a great personality and has shown great compassion to help underprivileged children.”

Mr Blake and Miss Charlene, in their first fundraising drive, were in Traps Bar last Saturday night to help raise funds to buy a ventilator machine for children in hospital. The event is part of their ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ fund drive.

“Beauty with a Purpose’ carries 80 per cent of the total scores while talent carries 20 per cent and judging,” Mr Blake said.

The fund drive will last for a year and Miss Charlene plans to raise $64,000 to help buy a ventilator machine.

The event last Saturday saw local musicians ‘Knox’ and ‘Inside Out’ perform to over 100 attendees who came to support the charity drive.

Miss Tafuna’i said she was overwhelmed with the support from the public.

“This is my first fundraising and I am truly grateful to every one of you that came out to support me,” she said.

She also performed her talent which she will present at the Miss World finals which begins on November 20 in London. The event closes on December 14

“Miss World 2014 will be aired live on FBC TV on December 14,”Mr Blake said.
