Hussein Defends Lautoka Open

Nadi businessman Abid Hussein defended the 83rd Shreedhar Motors Ford-sponsored Lautoka Golf Open championship last Saturday.

He was among the 100 golfers who competed in the 28 holes stroke event at the Lautoka Golf Club.

“I’m happy to defend the title for the second year and I wish to do it again in 2015,” Hussein said.

“The competition was tough from national reps Roneel Prakash and Sam Lee but I managed to pull it off.”

He played an impressive one under par 102 while Surend Pillay finished second with 109.

But it was not the day for Lee who had won convincingly this years’ Nadi Open, Ba Open, Fiji Golf Club Open and last week’s Pacific Harbour Open.

Lee carded 110 to finish third with Prakash.

“I finished second at the Pacific Harbour Open last week and this victory made up for the loss,” Hussein said.

He made his international debut at the 2014 World Amateur Teams Championship at Karuizawa, Nagano, Japan last September.

Meanwhile, in the professional category, Tukai Tuivuna finished with an impressive 103 pts while Apenisa Koroi finished second with 105 and Anasa Seruvatu finished was third with 107.
