National coaching director Carlos Buzzetti was upset with the eight players who didn’t turn up for the one-week camp in Ba last week.

“Eight players failed to attend which was disappointing as this was the last opportunity for us this year to gather and plan ahead,” he said.

The players are Leone Damudamu (Suva),      Krishneel Dutt (Nadroga), Pita Rabo (Suva),   Samuela Drudru (Nadi), Napolioni Qasevakatini (Suva), Pita Bolaitoga ( Labasa), Ravinesh Singh (Suva), Sakaraia Naisua (Suva).

Buzzetti is serious about winning the gold medal at the 2015 Pacific Games. Fiji last won gold during the 2003 Pacific Games in Suva.

“The 21 players in camp worked really hard and without any doubt pleased team management,” Buzzetti said.

“The sessions covered different aspects of the game, attacking, defending, transitions, build up, counter attack, individual duties and team duties, drills, meetings and FASANOC Anti-Doping, HIV and other topics workshop that was conducted by FASANOC officials from Suva.”

Buzzetti says the next camp that will include overseas-based players is being planned for February.

The players who attended camp are Uliasi Tamanisau,  Simione Tamanisau, Beniaminio Mateinaqara, Akuila Mateisuva, Jone Vesikula,   Peniame Drova,  Remeuru Tekiata, Ilimotama Jese, Laisenia Raura,Ilisoni Logaivau, Iliesa Lino,

Zibraaz Sahib, Taione Kerevanua, Rusiate Matarerega,Misaele Draunibaka, Maciu Dunadamu, Jone Kaloutani, Kavaia Rawaqa,  Luke Rawadamu,  Manasa Nawakula, Ratu Savenaca Nakalevu.

League kicks off on November 15

The 2014/2015 Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League season resumes on November 15.

Four matches will be played in the opening round as decided during the league board meeting last Sunday in Ba.

Amitesh Pal, the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) competition manager said two rounds of fixtures have been scheduled so far as the league season will take a break after November 23 to accommodate for the Pacific Cup in Australia and later the Kriz Signs National Club Championship.

“The remainder of the fixtures will be approved during the next league board meeting in January 2015.

The Suva side is the defending National Football League champion.

November 15-16: Labasa-Tailevu Naitasiri, Rewa-Nadi (Official Opening), Suva v Nadroga, Ba-Lautoka.

November 22-23: Tailevu/Naitasiri-Nadroga, Suva- Lautoka, Labasa-Nadi, Rewa –Ba.
