Nakasi Lions continues its mesmerizing performance in the Rewa Football Association local league competition.

The side is favourite to qualify for the National Club Championship in December.

Nakasi Lions defeated Wainibokasi 2-1 at the Saraswati Primary School ground in Manoca, Nausori last Sunday.

Nakasi Lions manager Lawrence Nath said their aim was to qualify for the NCC.

“Our players have done a lot of hard yards in training and they are playing well,” Nath said.

“We’re currently in sixth position and with our players’ level of performance, I’m optimistic we can make it to the NCC.”

Nakasi Lions, with district reps Setareki Hughes, Akuila Mateisuva, Mitieli Namuka, Alvin Prasad and Jone Kaloutani, are also favourites to win the local league title.

The side faces tough competition from Raymonds, United and Hakwa.

“Our club started from the Premier Division and we have done well in the last 10 years,” Nath said.

Results: Delta Verata 3-0 Vunivai Naita, Burebasaga 5-1 Waidra, Lakena Sports 1-0 Lakena Youth, Waila City Boys 1-1 Combine Verata, Hakwa 4-0 Kasavu , Nakasi Lions 2-1 Wainibokasi.
