Revamp In Tourism Fiji, More Training, New Ideas

Work has already started for all agents across the globe selling Fiji as a destination to get new training in the “knowing Fiji”.
Tourism Fiji regional director New Zealand Wayne Reed yesterday said through the “Matai Programme”, all agents would have the opportunity to earn e-certificates after completing required number of modules on Fiji.

He said with the development of a new more user friendly website, the online training course for international agents will see a boost in how Fiji was sold as a destination.

More than 2000 agents have already signed up for the new course.
Training will be in stages and agents will be given the chance to earn different levels of e-certificate: Matai Agents, Matai Specialist and Matai Frontliner.

Also up for an upgrade is the Tourism Fiji website: www.fiji.travel.

Tourism Fiji acting chief executive Ken Freer said more options and features would be added to the existing website.

Mr Freer a revamp of destination Fiji would also be undertaken. This will include needs based destination, rather than niche based.

He explained that while honeymooners can easily be branded under one category, each honeymooning couple would have different needs such as diving, snorkelling etc.

Mr Freer said by revamping Fiji as a destination which would cater for the needs of each family or visitor, a winning combination can be worked out.
