Attorney General and Minister for Finance, Public Service, Public Enterprise Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Ports Terminal chief operating officer, Hasthika Bandara Dela, Deputy Chairman / Managing Director Aitken Spence PLC, Joseph MS Brito and Aitken Spence PLC director Dr Parakrama Dissanayake.

The director of Aitken Spence PLC, Dr Parakrama Dissanayake, will address the 39th Pacific Maritime Transport Alliance Conference which gets underway in Niue today.

Aitken Spence PLC is the Sri Lankan firm which entered into a public private partnership with the Fijian Government to buy 51 per cent shares into Ports Terminal Limited.

Dr Dissanayake will be presenting on ‘3rd Industrial Revolution and its Implications on Asian Shipping’.

Dr Dissanayake is also the chairman/CEO of Aitken Spence Maritime, Logistics and Cargo.

Pacific Maritime Transport Alliance is an association comprising Ports Authorities within South Pacific Islands and includes countries such as, Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Fiji, and Canada.

About Dr Dissanayake

Dr Dissanayake serves on the UN/UNCTAD Panel as an expert on Ports and Shipping.

He is the first Sri Lankan to have obtained both the highest qualifications in shipping, (FICS – Chartered Shipbrokers) UK and Transport and Logistics (FCILT – Chartered Fellow) UK.

Having pioneered Commercial Maritime Education in Sri Lanka, he also serves CINEC Maritime Campus as Jt. Managing Director.

Dr Dissanayake, who was conferred with the Asian Brand Leadership award by CMO Asia is a University of Oxford Business Alumni, Graduate of Harvard Business School (EEP) on ‘Global Economy’ and a Fellow of NORAD and JICA.

Some of the awards conferred on him include, Best Shipping Personality by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Distinguished Services to Society by PIMA of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, Contribution to Shipping Industry by Ceylon Association of Ships’ Agents, etc.

He is also the Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Fiji in Sri Lanka.
