Year 13 students of Ballantine Memorial School in Delainavesi, Lami, yesterday completed their first examination paper.
Perina Vakataqaqa, 19, said she was relieved after sitting the first paper.

“The paper was good and I am just happy that English being the subject that will determine our pass or not has finished,” she said.
Colleen Peckham, 18, a boarder at the school said she hoped her late night preparation for the exam would soon be paid off.

“Most of the things that were in the exam, we had studied and I hope to get good grades when the results come out.”

Litia Naiqato, 19, said the paper was interesting because she had prepared well for it.

Assistant Minister for Education Vijay Nath confirmed there were 162 examination centres opened around the country for Year 13 with about 7418 students sitting for the exam.

Meanwhile, school principal Mereoni Motukiliu said the school aimed for a 60 per cent pass in this year’s exams.
The school scored a 43 per cent pass in last year’s Year 13 exam.
