The Vodafone Fiji Under-20 football team will play four games in 10 days in Australia.

Vodafone Fiji U20 technical advisor Frank Farina said it would be tough but necessary for the team to get exposure.

The team departs on Sunday for their Australia/New Zealand tour in preparation for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup.

“We’re playing four games in Australia, that is four games in 10 days,”Farina said.

“It’s a big ask for the boys but we have structured the games in Australia as a bit lower in standard than what we will experience in New Zealand.

“Four games in 10 days will be very tough, we are working on defensive structures, formation, rotation and transition period when you win the ball or lose the ball.

“We’ve been talking to the boys, educating them on what’s coming up for them in the eight months which is important, not only for them but Fiji Football.

“We need to expose them to high level football, the results are not overly important. What is important is that they are exposed to that level of fitness and experienced the conditions against different teams, styles, climate and this is the great first step on our journey to the world cup.”

Farina has had a delightful time with the team  and said they are very hardworking.

“They are a great bunch of boys and they are very enthusiastic and very committed to what they are doing,”Farina said.

“I find them very disciplined and hardworking and very keen to learn and I think that it is very good and great for them.”

The team’s four matches in Sydney  will be against Western Sydney Wanderers on November 4, New South Wales Institute of Sports on November 7, Australia Fiji Football Association (AFFA) selection side on November  9 and Newcastle Jets on November 11,

The team leaves  for New Zealand on November 12 for the OFC President’s Cup in Auckland from November 17-23.
