Police retained the volleyball and netball trophies in the 2014 Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge at the National Netball Centre yesterday.

Police coach Vilisi Misiamete said competition this year was tough.

“We are proud to defend the trophies once again this year and it is because of the hard work and dedication and obedience and respect they have put in,” Misiamete said.

“Competition this year was much tougher compared to last year, the  Republic of Fiji Military Forces came all out this year and made it tough for us but we stuck to our game plan and managed to put all our balls in.”

Misiamete believes the true spirit of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge is to bring the forces together.

“I believe we’ve achieved the purpose of the competition today,”she said.

“We’re here for the safety and security of the people of Fiji and building the two organisations is a must in building the nation.

In the netball, the Police Veteran Service beat the Army Veteran Service 46-13, Police Veteran Wives beat the Army Veteran Wives 42-20, Police Women Wives beat the Army Wives 31-29 and the Police Women Service beat the Army Women Service 49-46. Meanwhile, the volleyball was won by the Police Veterans and Police Women Service.
