The Vodafone Fiji Under-20 football team depart for their Australia/New Zealand tour on Sunday.

The tour will be part of their preparation for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in NZ in May and June.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar applauded Vodafone’s involvement.

“Vodafone through their strong support contributed to the success of the side,”Kumar said.

“The short tour to Australia and the OFC Presidents Cup is a vital part of preparation for the 2015 FIFA U20 in New Zealand.

“We’ve created history by being the first U20 team or first team from Fiji to qualify for the World Cup.

“This tour will enhance our preparation for the World Cup and we need to get support from the public as they start their journey.”

Meanwhile, Vodafone Fiji chief marketing officer Sanjeewa Perera said they are confident in the U20 team and will continue their support to develop football from grassroot levels.

“I wish the Vodafone U20 football team, coaches and officials the very best on their tour to Australia and New Zealand,”Perera said.

“We’re confident and optimistic the team will pull some surprises,” Perera said.

The team plays four matches in Sydney before flying out to Auckland on  November 12 to prepare for the OFC President’s Cup which starts on November 17.
