Business Survey To Accelerate Potential

The relaunch of the Cost of Doing Business survey at the Fiji Australia & Australia Fiji Business Forum cocktail was anticipated to ‘accelerate’ potential Australian business undertakings here.
The comprehensive document which outlines the survey of selected costs across Melanesian Spearhead Group countries and Fiji’s manufacturing sector was presented at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
Fiji Export Council chairman, Joeli Taoi said it was every businessperson’s business to know of how it’s like to do business in a particular country.
And as such, the document could well contribute to the national economic and social development in future.
“Through this report, we envisage an accelerated regulatory reform through a single window system in trading across borders,” Mr Taoi said.
“This is through dealing with licence permits, e-filings and e-payment taxes, cost structure in getting electricity and minimum capital requirements in starting a business.”
He added Fiji being the hub in the Pacific played a vital role hence building on this upside was as critical.
“We need to work harder to achieve our desired ranking by the narrowing the gap, achieving high and quality compliant standards to eventually enable an even playing field as leaders and key players within the Pacific Region.”
The document is a joint one by the Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation and the council and is subject for review should the said country policies change in future.
